Thom Yorke

Thom Yorke was born on October 7, 1968 in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, England. Yorke is best known as the lead singer of the hit alternative rock band, Radiohead. Since their creation, thousands of Radiohead tickets have been sold!

Yorke's passion for music started from the very beginning. At the age of seven, he received his first guitar. Three years later, he joined his very first band. Though it wasn't met with success, his band in high school led to his now successful career. The band was originally named "On a Friday." While attending classes at the University of Exeter, Yorke studied Fine Art and English and even landed a job as a DJ at Guild nights in Lemon Grove. Despite his busy schedule, Yorke even found time to work as an orderly at a psychiatric hospital. Soon, Yorke would meet Stanley Donwood, an artist who successfully helped collaborate on Radiohead's album artwork.

During the late 1980s, Yorke and his girlfriend were involved in a serious car crash. Though no one was fatally injured, the incident caused Yorke's continual fear of cars and led to several songs being written such as "Killer Cars," "Stupid Car," "Drunk Machine" and "Airbag."

Aside from his work with Radiohead, Yorke recorded a solo album entitled The Eraser in 2006. Collaborating with other musicians, his music on the album was heavily influenced by the electronic music instruments.
